Berlin – German President, Humboldt Painting Commission, and US Embassy

We headed to Berlin for the Alexander von Humboldt Annual Meeting.

First order of business – reception with the Federal President at the Schloss Bellevue. We put on our presidential best and headed to the castle.

The reception was held in the castle’s gardens, and all started out well, with obligatory garden photos, rainier . . . er “directing” the cricket game, and champagne toasts.

Then the rain came, and while we all huddled under the tent in search of more champagne, Rainier took the opportunity to get an almost solo photo with the Schloss.

The next day, we headed to the University for more annual meeting activities.

And the BUKAs presented the president of the foundation with a Soren Vandegaard commission of Alex von Humboldt himself:

We did a bit more Berlin exploring.

And before heading back to Passau, I, along with the other American BUKAs, met with the Chargé at the American Embassy in Berlin.
